A couple of weeks ago I shared several products in What I'm Using This Week that I intended to use in the making of some baby shower invitations for my sister in law. (You can see that blog post HERE.)
I finished those up and mailed them out to the guests the first of this past week and wanted to share the finished product here.
Sorry for the less than stellar photos. My camera settings were a bit off the day I took these and I didn't notice until I sat down to edit them today. I mailed every last invite out so I couldn't retake some photos! Darn.
The invitation is printed on piece of of kraft cardstock. I rounded the corners with the Corner Chomper and die cut "baby shower" to adhere to the invite. In retrospect, I probably wouldn't do that again (the die cut title). It took forever to cut, forever to carefully peel from the cutting mat and forever to spray with adhesive and adhere to each invite. However, it's cute. Cute is good.
I also die cut baby "diapers" from white cardstock to tuck each invite into. The baby diapers are my favorite part. I think they are just so stinkin' cute. Get it? Stinkin'. ha.
Whenever I tackle a larger project like this where I need to mass produce quite a few cards/invitations, I always break it down into steps.
The first thing I did was punch a bunch of circles from the kraft cardstock and larger scallop circles from blue cardstock. Then I stamped the duck image on each using Memories White Dye Ink. I colored in the beak of each duck with an orange colored pencil.
Since I have the white ink out I went ahead and stamped the top of each invite (the kraft part where all the pertinent information is printed) with a border sticker and the White Memories Dye Ink.
After I stamped each of these, I ran them through my printer to add the details for the shower and die cut "baby shower" from blue cardstock and adhered them to each insert.
Next, I adhered each kraft circle to a blue cardstock scalloped circle. Then I stamped the duck's wing on white cardstock using Crystal Blue ink from CTMH. The matched the AC cardstock I used perfectly. After I stamped all the wings I cut each out and adhered them to the duck with a pop dot.
I die cut each of the diapers "pockets" out of white cardstock and inked the edges with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I stamped the baby pins on each flap using Soft Suede Stampin' Up ink and filled in the top of each with Crystal Blue CTMH ink.
To complete the diaper pocket, I added a black gem for the eye of the duck. Punched holes in each scallop tag and tied some twine in a bow. Then I adhered each to the diaper.
