This marks the final month in my year-long class at Two Peas: Making the Most of Die Cutting Machines. Hard to believe another year long class is over. 2009 and 2010 went by so fast.
I enjoyed spending the past twelve months focused on die cutting.
For my last class I chose to share some ideas for implementing die cutting in Holiday Home Decor items.
First up, is this framed text print.
I wanted to create something clean and classic with a fun holiday message.
I used the Alphabet Simple Letters Steel Rule dies exclusive to Stampin' Up to die cut Dear Lizzy Fabric papers.
After die cutting the letters for my frame, I simply adhered them to a sheet of 8x10 white cardstock and placed the print inside my frame. Easy to remove when the holidays are over and put something else in it's place.
For my second project I thought it would be fun to make a felt ornament for our tree. I used felt from Papertrey Ink and die cut it using the Tim Holtz Caged Bird Die.
A little handstitching, jewels and a floral complete this one-of-a-kind ornament.
I love that you can get so many uses from one simple die.
And the Sizzix Steel Rule dies cut through felt like butter.
The third project is another ornament or could be a gift tag, etc. I used the Stars Steel Rule Die to die cut Sticky Back Canvas.
Sticky Back Canvas is fantabulous.
Like seriously addicting.
You can do so, so, so much with this stuff. I will be featuring it next year sometime during my 2011 class at Two Peas as well (more on that at the end of this post).
I die cut two of the largest stars from white Sticky Back Canvas and painted each with Studio Paints. Then I simply adhered them back to back, added buttons to either side and secured the buttons by threading baker's twine through them and tying in a bow.
I punched a hole at the top and thread another piece of baker's twine through so I could hang my star from the tree or gift.

2011 FREE Classes at Two Peas in a Bucket
I am so very excited to announce that I will be teaching another year long class in 2011:
"Scrapbook Stamping"
Scrapbook Stamping is a year long class focusing on including stamping and stamping techniques on your scrapbook layouts. The class will cover how to successfully use stamps on your layouts and how to get the most from your stamp supplies. Techniques to be covered throughout the year: heat embossing, creating backgrounds, titles, embellishments, inking and more. Each month's class will cover a new scrapbook stamping technique, a sketch, PDF handout and how to video as well as additional examples of the technique from me and/or other artists.
