Hey scrapbook stampers!
This month's free class lesson of Scrapbook Stamping @2Psinabucket features using embossing powders and heat embossing on scrapbook layouts.
Heat embossing is not a new technique by any means but it's one that packs a big punch and really takes your stamping up a level.
For this month's sample, I showed how multiple colors of embossing powders can be used to create one-of-a-kind colorful backgrounds plus how heat embossing a title can really make it stand out.
For the majority of the heat embossing that I do, whether it be cards or scrapbook layouts, I use white, clear or black embossing powders. You can see in the layout above that entire floral border is stamped with Versamark ink, then has been heat embossed with multiple colors of American Crafts Zing embossing powders. The only stamped image that has been heat set with a "standard" embossing powder is the small sub-title "everyday beauty" (February Stamp Set by Studio AE).
I love that instead of looking like a stamped image, this floral border looks more like a patterned paper. A customized patterned paper that I created with stamps to perfectly match the mood, feel and other patterned papers I chose to use for my layout.
Using multiple colors of embossing powder may look hard but it really is super easy. Watch the video below to see how.

A FEW ADDITIONAL CLOSE UP SHOTS
Journaling: printed on an October Afternoon label sticker again. It's my current favorite way to include little bits of information. This layout didn't require a ton of information. It was more of an overview of some of the beautiful flowers we encountered during a recent trip along the Pacific Coast, specifically in the Pacific Northwest. Tons of journaling isn't always needed to convey a message of a layout. As long as I have made sure to include the "what", "when" and "where", the story is there.
I like to add bits of information, especially the date on tiny label stickes.
The tab serves as a way to tell my story + a fun embellishment.
This phrase sticker is another way to reinforce the theme of the page and tell my story.
The scattering of brads finishes the page design with embellishment that reinforces rather than distracts from the photos.
Each month I will be including a sketch (for those of you who enjoy sketches) that you may or may not use to participate in the monthly challenge. Here is this month's sketch:
This month's sketch has room for 5 - 2x3 photos and 1 - 3x4 photo for a total of 6 photos.
You could easily switch out the floral border for something that matches your photos.
Consider a row of stamped houses or cityscape or repeat a row of stamped people (Plaid Person Stamp or Polka Dot Person or Three People Stamps) or maybe even some stamped bicycles HERE.
