Hello my fellow scrapping friends!
This week's layout features a photo collage showcasing eight Valentine's themed photos, the County Fair, Photo Booth and Ring Toss Studio Calico Kits, ribbon scrap die cut hearts (shown in yesterday's Studio AE Blog Hop post HERE) and the January Studio AE Stamp Set.
I created the title for my page using some die cut files by Kerri Bradford's TwentyEleven kit. I love these yearly kits because they allow for me to use text (which I love), create titles that clearly give a date to my scrapbook pages (which is important to me) and allow me create freedom with lots of options for mixing and matching the elements to create custom designs. Fabulous basic kits.
Check out Kerri's other yearly die cut kits for even more options!
To create the sub-title for my page, I used one of the new stamps from Ali Edwards' January Studio AE stamp set. This is a great stamp set. Even though I clearly used the stamps on a Valentine's themed page here, you could use them for any love-inspired project. I will be using these lots and will show additional ways to use these stamps over the next month or so. I stamped the phrase with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder to really make the text "pop".
Here are those die cut ribbon scrap hearts used on a layout. I love creating accents this way! *See video for how to.*
I also added another stamped image from the January Studio AE stamp set and a coordinating phrase from another Ali Edwards stamp set to finish off the left side of the design.
I used one of the corrugated alpha letters to add an "E" over my photo collage (for my son's name). Simple. Easy.

This has got to be one of my favorite layouts from your awesome collection. Although my favorite colors are pink and red I prefer the "off" version of each color and who doesn't like any shade of aqua! As far as the hearts are concerned can you tell me, would it work if I use an older metal die from sizzix? I don't have any of the Tim Holtz collection but a ton of the old school dies. I'd like to pull them out as they cost a ton back then. My OLW for this year is "re-purpose" as in use all my older stash and actually walk on the treadmill instead of having it look like abstract art in the family room!! hee, hee,hee...
Your videos are great!

I have used this technique many times with my old school red steel rule dies! ;)

Great layout! Love those hearts...still need to go make some! It also would be great to do this technique with some egg dies for Easter too! Thanks Nichol for the inspiration!

Awesome job as always Nichol!
Could have used this video yesterday LOL
I wanted to use an Ali stamp on my LO and it was too dark a paper...used the vellum trick but it was covering up my whole paper...not what I wanted. Didn't want to mess with white staz on so I changed the paper which ended up to be a better pick anyway but thanks for the reminder of white embossing (slapping forehead and "Oh yeahing" LOL)
I always get such inspiration from watching you work through your LO! TFS!

Love this layout Nichol! Thanks for the reminder on how to use up ribbon scraps - I remember you showed the technique before but totally forgot to try it out! This time I've written it down in my 'scrapbooking journal' so I don't forget! (Hubby is re-working my scraproom as we speak, so may not get to it for a few days/weeks). I can only imagine how much time these videos take you to put together, and want you to know how grateful and appreciative I am that you do take the time to do them! I learn so, so much from you! Thanks again!!!!

My week is complete! I enjoy your videos so much. If I can make a suggestion, could you make a video flipping through an album. I watched your video and Shimelle's video from true scrap, and I woul like to see how your albums flow. Please consider it...thanks.

I am currently in the market for a new and upgraded printer and i see that you love yours...can you tell me is the ink/paper expensive since you scrap so much? I am a bit afraid of such a big purchase and not loving it! thanks for your inspiration!!

This layout is stunning. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful ideas with us and particularly for details on how to create those ribbon hearts. I had a Big Shot for Christmas and cannot wait to give them a go.

Oh Nicol what an amazing layout. I absolutely LOVE this one.

I really enjoyed this video. Any chance you can add a link for the date stamp you used? I am the worst at remembering to date layouts and I think using a stamp like that is a great idea!

What a wonderful layout. You always remind me that I must use more stamps on my layouts. Your videos are terrific.
