Welcome in to another weekly layout and how to video!
This week's layout focuses on using lots of pre-made embellishments plus scrapping older (pre-digital) photos. In the video I also talk about my decision to re-do the original of this page and how that is o-kay!
I am using lots of my favorite tips/tricks in the creation of this layout...go-to techniques that I use again and again because they work for me.
- layered circle accents
- clouds
- kraft journaling block
- white Mister Huey Mist ink
- photo strip that spans the entire 12" layout
- buttons
- October Afternoon stickers/labels
- die cuts
I used a lot of elements from the Studio Calico County Fair kit and add-ons plus added some from my stash as well. I love how well this die cut from MME works with the rest of my page and Amy Tangerine's fabric cloud stickers...love!
I always think adding a few elements on top of the photos helps tie the page together nicely. The wood veneer alpha from Studio Calico matches the feel and theme of this page perfectly!
As I finished up my page I felt like my focal point photo just needed something but I didn't really want to mat it on white cardstock. Instead, I die cut a decorative border out of cream cardstock from a Kerri Bradford kit and layered it right on my photo. Decorative, cute and fun plus it draws your eye in to that photo!
I string my buttons on cream string and glued them to my page, leaving the ends hanging out for a fun homemade, rustic touch.

You always make it look effortless Nichol but there are so many lovely details in your LOs! This is what inspires me in watching your scrap it weekly videos, I am inspired to try to use more bits and pieces than I normally would, it really pushes me to do this! TFS!

Nichol, I love your videos. I have a question for you about your older photos, and your current photos. How do you store all the printed photos from before digital and how do you store your photos of digital ones now? Thanks.
Have a great day.

Another one of my "new" favorites! I am not sure why, but I often struggle with "boy" pages, perhaps because I associate boy pages with primary colors - not my favorite look. The color family you used on this page is gorgeous, even though some of the photos have some primary going on! I love the mixing of the plaid with the damask and the kraft paper! And, you have sold me on the mists - they are now on my "gotta have"list!
Thanks for the wonderful videos, Nichol!

Love your layout as always. Learn so many little tricks from watching you. My "baby" is thirty-five year old now and her little girl photos are all 4 x 4, which was standard at the time. Would love to see you do something about working with older formats like that. I am working on ideas for doing up an album for her of her childhood photos and artwork (which I still have) along side my grand daughters photos (she is thirteen) and the photos are 4 x 6. I have a lot of her artwork as well, being the proud grandma that I am. Open to suggestions.
