Happy Friday!
It's time for my weekly video series,It's In The Details, for the Waffle Flower Inspiration Team. Every Friday I will share a new video featuring amazing Waffle Flower Stamps and Dies.
Shaker cards are such a fun way to create an interactive element to a card. The Little Mermaids Stamp Set images make for the perfect underwater scene and the incredible Lacy Layers 2 Dies make creating a fabulous shaker frame so super easy! Distress Inks add color to the shaker background and frame elements while Copic colored images with white and black glaze pens details really make them stand out. Adding water to the stamped bubbles removes some of the ink from the shape since Distress Inks react with water. A layer of Glossy Accents over the bubbles and the eyes on the monkey mermaid and fish make them really shine!
I started with the background and die cut watercolor cardstock with two of the Lacy Layers 2 Dies. I remove the tiny, tiny thin border and set it aside. I apply Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks to the background and frame using Ink Blending Tools. I spritz the background with water from a Distress Sprayer, let it sit for 20 seconds, and then remove the water with a paper towel. I felt like a little too much ink was removed with the water so without re-inking the tools I lightly add a bit more ink over the light areas. I die cut another scallop rectangle using the largest Lacy Layers 2 Die to use as the backer for my shaker. I trim a piece of transparency to fit behind the frame.
I stamped the monkey mermaid, rock, seaweed, fish, clam shell, and coral from the Little Mermaids Stamp Set with black ink on smooth white cardstock using the MISTI tool to stamp the images one on top of another to get the best stamped outlines for my images. I colored in the cute designs with Copic Markers and then die cut the images with the coordinating Little Mermaids Dies.
I added detail to the eyes, seaweed, and clam shelles on the images with white and black glaze pens.
On the background I stamped the bubble images from the Little Mermaids Stamp Set and carefully added water to each bubble, blotting dry with the tip of a paintbrush to remove the color. I added Glossy Accents to the bubbles and eyes on the critters and set the background aside to completely dry.
For the frame I glued the Distress Inked frame and tiny, tiny white frame to the transparency and then stamped a greeting with white StazOn Ink. I love adding stamped greetings to the transparency so that the shaker material doesn't cover up the greeting.
I backed the frame with two layers of foam, making sure the side touch so that no shaker material will be able to escape. I filled the shaker with Sparkling Clear Seed Beads and then brought the shaker backer to the frame to finish the design.
