I've been creating a few new home decor pieces for Valentine's Day. A couple weeks ago I revisited a few of my past Valentine's Decor projects and it got me in the mood to create some new pieces for my collection! I love the look of banners so I dug through my Simon Says Stamp collection and pulled a bunch of stuff I thought I might want to use for this elegant cream and gold heart banner. While I went for a more elegant banner, I think this same design would look incredible in red and white or pink and red or even throw in a bit of aqua for a more modern Valentine feel. The possibilities are endless!
The hearts for my banner were all die cut from Cream Off White Cardstock or gold glitter cardstock using the Simon Says Stamp Nesting Hearts Dies. I die cut two hearts per banner piece so I could adhere them back to back for more stability.
The largest heart is adorned with Cream Off White Cardstock and Vellum flowers die cut with the Simon Says Stamp Hydrangea Petals Dies, a Metallic Khaki Envelope was die cut using the Hey Love Die for the big scripty text, a stamped greeting from the WPlus9 Biggest Fan Stamp Set, and gold foil hearts were die cut from both the Simon Says Stamp Nesting Hearts Dies and Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts Die Set. The centers of the flowers were adorned with some wooden enamel dots from my stash.
The text print hearts were custom made by die cutting the Cream Off White Cardstock with a Simon Says Stamp Nesting Hearts Die and then stamped with the Simon Says Stamp Love Is Background Stamp and Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink. I love creating my own text backgrounds or shapes! To make sure I got the best stamped impression, I used the MISTI to perfectly line up the text and die cut heart. If you're looking for more awesome text backgrounds, check out the My Favorite Things Romantic Script Background, My Favorite Things Typewriter Text Background, Impression Obsession Beauty Background, and Simon Says Stamp Tiny Alphabet Background.
The center of this text heart was adorned with metal numbers. If you don't have metal numbers, try die cutting number like the Simon Says Stamp Simple Numbers Dies or Tim Holtz Sizzix Typo Dies, ink them up and finish with a coat of Glossy Accents for a similar effect to the metal accents.
The second text heart was adorned with another layered flower created by die cutting a Metallic Khaki Envelope with the Simon Says Stamp Hydrangea Petals Dies. I layered the flower finishing with a clear glass button in the center. I secured a glass tipped trinket pin and a Tim Holtz Memo Pin behind the flower with hot glue.
I stamped a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Made By Stamp Set on Cream Off White Cardstock with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The greeting was trimmed into a thin strip and tucked into the memo pin.
The arrow and heart wings heart was created by hot gluing a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Arrow to the cream heart. I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Angel Heart Die from gold glitter and gold foil cardstock, trimming the heart from the gold foil die cut. The glitter die cut was hot glued to the arrow withe gold foil heart hot glued on top of that.
I die cut a bunch of tiny, tiny flowers from Cream Off White Cardstock, Vellum, and a a Metallic Khaki Envelope using the Simon Says Stamp Mini Flowers Die. I layered the pieces on the cream heart as shown, finishing the center of the flowers with Hero Arts Pearls.
All of the remaining hearts are gold glitter adhered back to back. I used a Crop-a-dile to punch holes in the hearts and threaded through some cream/gold twine to finish the banner.
