The Mix It Up challenge from Ellen Hutson has invited Honey Bee Stamps to combine Essentials by Ellen stamps/dies with HB products in order to inspire our readers to mix and match and stretch our supplies! Mixing and matching is one of my personal favorite ways to create. For this mermaid/sunshine scene card I am combining the United We Flourish Sending Sunshine stamp/die set, Sunburst A2 Cover Plate, and Cloud Borders Dies with the Essentials By Ellen Mermaid's Tail stamps and coordinating dies. Let's get started!
For the background, I die cut the Sunburst A2 Cover Plate from Bristol Smooth Cardstock. To hold the pieces in place while inking, I placed a couple of strips of post it tape on the back of the panel and then inked the front with Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. I spritzed the background with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotted it dry with a paper towel. Once dry, I stamped "A Day Without" from the United We Flourish Sending Sunshine stamp/die set on the background using black ink. I removed the post it tape and secured the panel and die cuts with foam adhesive on the back of the design.
The word "sunshine" from the United We Flourish Sending Sunshine stamp/die set was die cut from smooth white cardstock adhered to Fun Foam with Stick It. Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks were applied to the die cut word and then it was adhered to the card front as shown.
Wave borders were created by flipping the Cloud Borders Dies upside down, die cutting them from Bristol Smooth Cardstock, and inking them with Salty Ocean and Twisted Citron Distress Inks. The borders were adhered along the bottom edge of the scene.
The mermaid tail from the Essentials By Ellen Mermaid's Tail stamps was stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock using Versamark Ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder. The images was die cut with the coordinating dies. A rainbow of Distress Inks was applied over the embossed image using Dauber Duo foam applicators to cover a smaller area. The embossed areas of the design resist the ink. The mermaid tail was tucked in between the two wave borders. Bubbles from the coordinating dies were die cut from Bristol Cardstock, colored with Salty Ocean Distress Ink and adhered along the bottom of the card. A layer of Glossy Accents finishes the bubbles with a smooth glossy finish.
A scattering of Sunny Day sequins were adhered around the sunshine background.
For the inside of the card, an additional greeting from the United We Flourish Sending Sunshine stamp/die set was stamped using black dye ink and a sentiment from the Essentials By Ellen Mermaid's Tail stamps was stamped with mermaid blue ink.

this is so over the top amazing! What a great combo and what a brilliant card! So many good tips and pointers in your wonderful video, too. The "sunshine" was cut with cardstock attached to foam with Stickit - but I'm not sure of the order. Is the cardstock on top, then Stick It, then foam, then more Stick It (it appraise the letters have adhesive on the back). So beautiful - I'm in love.......

That is exactly the order! I place stick it in both sides of a piece of fun foam, then remove the backing from one side and adhere cardstock, then die cut the word/image. The stick it in the back side makes the die cut a sticker!

I have a friend that is finishing up her chemo and has been fighting for awhile. This card is absolutely going to get made and sent to her. I can't think of a better sunny smile to send.

Beautiful, colorful, happy card. How fun o mix manufacturers on the same card. I'm thinking it is not often you do this as you're usually creating for a certain company. Thanks for sharing.
