Coloring directly on stamps is one of my favorite techniques. It gives multi-color results that create that wow factor on cards. I especially love this technique with background stamps. The Rose Lattice Background included in the February 2019 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit is perfect for this technique. I colored the roses and leaves on the backgrounds with Tombow Dual Brush Markers and stamped the design on Cotton Candy cardstock for this beautiful, romantic background. When I decided to die cut a heart from the original background, I knew I didn't want it to go to waste so I created a second card centered around that die cut!
I used the MISTI stamp positioning tool with the Rose Lattice Background stamp and Tombow Dual Brush Markers to stamp the multi-color background on Cotton Candy cardstock. I worked a couple rows at a time so that the ink didn't dry out too much before stamping.
Once completely inked, I die cut a Nested Hearts Die from the background panel and layered another piece of Cotton Candy cardstock behind the die cut. I set aside the die cut stamped heart for my second card. A greeting from the Love Always Stamp Set was colored with the Tombow Markers as well and stamped on the background panel. The Rose Lattice Background was popped up over the greeting panel with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension.
The pink Tombow Dual Brush Markers were used to color Ivory Cardstock and then die cut additional hearts for the design using the Nested Hearts Dies. By using the markers, I was able to get heart accents that match perfectly! I stamped a heart from the Love Always Stamp Set on one of the hearts with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. From the colored cardstock I also stamped a small phrase with clear embossing ink, heat set with white embossing powder, trimmed into a thin strip and adhered to the card as shown.
The design was finished with a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Watermelon jewels.
From a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Cotton Candy Cardstock I die cut a Nested Hearts die one size larger than the stamped one and adhered the panel to a white top fold card base. Above the heart I stamped a sentiment from the Love Always Stamp Set using the Tombow Dual Brush Markers.
The stamped heart from the first card was adhered to the center of the design as shown and embellished with a colored heart die cut.
Additional hearts from the Love Always Stamp Set were stamped on the background and the card was finished with Pretty Pink Posh Watermelon jewels.
