Happy Friday! I am so, so, so excited to finally share with you my cards featuring the January 2019 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club Kit Dies! This month's First Crush small die set is perfect for making cards, decor, and more. I was a paper doll loving little girl and it appears I still loving them! Both of my cards today feature inked and stenciled backgrounds that really showcase the adorable First Crush Small Die of the Month die cut images. Shading to the skin and hair was added with Copic Markers, clothing was die cut from small print patterned papers, and greetings were added to each using an assortment of sentiment stamps.
The backgrounds for both cards were inked with Distress Inks. The pink-on-pink card was inked with Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Inks and then stenciled with the Simon Says Stamp Reverse Heart Stencil and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I love the addition of tone-on-tone stenciling or stamping for backgrounds as a subtle addition to a die cut heavy card! Keeps the bulk to a minimum but still adds to the overall look and appeal!
The coral background was created the same way only using Abandoned Coral and Dried Marigold Distress Inks and again using the Simon Says Stamp Reverse Heart Stencil.
The face, arms, and leg dies from the January Small DOM for the pigtailed girl were die cut from smooth white cardstock and colored in with the E00, E11, E13 Copic Markers. Her hair was die cut from Lawn Fawn Chocolate Bar Cardstock and Copic Markers in E49, E47, and E57 were used to feather in the texture. Starting with a base color cardstock made the shading super quick and easy!
The girl's outfit was die cut from Doodlebug 6x6 patterned paper from my stash. I assembled the girl image and added highlights to her eyes and shoes with a white opaque pen.
The balloons from the January Small DOM were die cut from Simon Says Stamp Cotton Candy and Doll Pink cardstock and Gina K Passionate Pink Cardstock. The balloon "strings" were die cut from Simon Says Stamp Smoke Gray Cardstock. Sentiments from The Stamp Market Bear Hugs Stamp Set and Simon Says Stamp Uplifting Sentiments Stamp Set were stamped on two of the balloons with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
The die cut images were assembled and adhered as shown and the card was finished with a scattering of Honey Bee Hug Me Candy Heart embellishments.
The face, arms, and leg dies from the January Small DOM for both the boy and girl were die cut from smooth white cardstock and colored in with the E00, E11, E13 Copic Markers. The boy's hair was die cut from Lawn Fawn Chocolate Bar Cardstock and Copic Markers in E49, E47, and E57 were used to feather in the texture. The girl's hair was die cut from Lawn Fawn Vanilla Malt Cardstock and Copic Markers in E31 and E55 were used to feather in the texture.
The boy and girl's outfits was die cut from Doodlebug 6x6 patterned paper from my stash. I assembled the boy and girl images and added highlights to their eyes and shoes with a white opaque pen.
I used the Large Die of the Month Club Kit Dies (bouquet wrapper, stems, bow, and flowers) to die cut a bouquet for the girl to hold! I love how seamlessly the two kits can work together! If you love getting lots of options each month you might consider the Die Hard Value Club (it's the Large and Small DOM kits each month for only $30 + shipping). The bouquet paper was die cut from double sided 6x6 patterned paper from my stash, the stems die cut from Simon Says Stamp Green Leaf Cardstock, and the flowers and bow die cut from Simon Says Stamp Lipstick Red Cardstock.
The bouquet was assembled and adhered to the girl. The flowers were adorned with Pretty Pink Posh Shamrock Jewels in the center of each.
Greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Love Messages Stamp Set were stamped on the background with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Hearts from the set were stamped with Abandoned Coral Distress Ink.
The boy and girl were adhered to the background and the design was finished with a scattering of Honey Bee Stamps Candy Hearts in Be Mine.
