Today we're revisiting one of my favorite techniques, metallic watercolor on dark (black) cardstock. A couple of years ago I created THIS wedding card and to this day it continues to be a favorite. I love the technique so much that I've used it many times. Be sure to check out more videos with this technique by clicking the links below:

The frames, borders, and sentiments from the Leafy Frames Stamp Set were stamped on black cardstock using clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The flowers and leaves were watercolored with the Starry Colors paints and a medium water brush pen.
Once the metallic watercoloring was completely dry, a white watercolor paint was splattered over the backgrounds for a distressed look using a small paintbrush.
While the paint was drying a custom diagonal striped background was created by placing 1/4" wide double sided tape to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock panel. Silver, Gold, and Copper Gilding Flakes were applied to the taped stripes to create the beautiful gilded background. This one piece is going to be used for all 3 cards by trimming it into thinner strips.
Tonic Majestic Gold Cardstock was die cut with a small Scallop Stitches Die and matted behind the black cardstock panels as shown. The gilded strips and watercolored backgrounds were adhered to white top and side fold card bases.
Each card was finished with a scattering of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Silver Lining, Bright Gold, and Copper Penny.
