Happy Friday! I'm so excited to be blog hopping with Simon Says Stamp today celebrating the DIECember Release! Today I'm sharing a set of three die cut cards featuring three of the shimmer dies from the release: Shimmer Oval, Shimmer Wreath, and Shimmer Snowflake. In my video tutorial below I share tips and tricks for working with these intricate dies. While the end results look elegant and time consuming, these cards came together quickly and easily - my favorite kinds of cards! In addition to the DIEcember Release dies, I'm also sharing ideas on "shopping your stash" and including other dies, stamps, and embellishments to really make these intricate dies shine! Let's get started!

For my first card, I am using a traditional Christmas color palette with greens and red with a touch of gold sparkle thrown in! The Shimmer Oval die can be used for more than the holidays but add in some Christmas Foliage and sentiments and this gorgeous die is instantly transformed into the holidays!
I used the same stamp for all three of the backgrounds today. I first die cut the Shimmer Oval from a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Hero Hues Palm Cardstock. I removed the intricate oval piece and stamped the "frame" with the Concord & 9th Plaid Background Stamp. I stamped the plaid design with Lawn Fawn Artichoke Ink and the stripes with Pinkfresh Studio Licorice Ink. I love building my own plaid patterns with this awesome stamp! The subtle background also adds so much interest to the overall finished design. I didn't stamp the intricate die cut so that it would show up with the glitter paper layered behind!
Holiday Sparkle gold glitter cardstock was placed behind the frame and the intricate Shimmer Oval was inlaid back into the frame design. I love how the glittery cardstock sparkles through the die cut design, don't you?!!!
The Joyful Die was die cut once from Holiday Sparkle gold glitter cardstock and three times from smooth white cardstock. The layers were stacked one on top of another, finishing with the glitter die cut on top. The "shadow" outline of the word was die cut from vellum and run through a Xyron Sticker Maker before being adhered the center of the die cut design. The stacked die cut greeting was layered on top.
A phrase from the Ho Ho Postage Stamp Set was stamped on Hero Hues Cranberry Cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with Antique Gold Embossing Powder. The phrase was die cut with a Nested Banners Die and adhered to the design with foam adhesive.
Pretty Pink Posh Gold Metallic Jewels were adhered to parts of the Shimmer Oval for even more holiday sparkle and shine!
The Christmas Foliage dies were die cut from Hero Hues Palm, Pesto, and Cranberry cardstock and glued to the card as shown. The berries were finished with Glossy Accents for a shiny, raised finish.
My next card features an elegant dark navy and silver color combination featuring the Shimmer Wreath. I love adding details like the Perfect Bow and jewels to this wreath to really make it shine! This would also be stunning in the color palette above or even a more modern color palette like aqua, pink, and red!
I die cut the Shimmer Wreath from a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Hero Hues Nautical Cardstock. I removed the intricate oval piece and stamped the "frame" with the Concord & 9th Plaid Background Stamp. I stamped the plaid design with Lawn Fawn Deep Sea Ink and the stripes with Simon Says Stamp White Pigment Ink.
Holiday Sparkle silver glitter cardstock was placed behind the frame and the intricate Shimmer Wreath was inlaid back into the frame design.
The Merry Die was die cut once from Holiday Sparkle gold glitter cardstock and three times from smooth white cardstock. The layers were stacked one on top of another, finishing with the glitter die cut on top. The "shadow" outline of the word was die cut from vellum and run through a Xyron Sticker Maker before being adhered the center of the die cut design. The stacked die cut greeting was layered on top.
A phrase from the Tiny Words Christmas Stamp Set was stamped on smooth white cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. The phrase was die cut with a Nested Banners Die and adhered to the design with foam adhesive.
Pretty Pink Posh Pearl White Jewels were adhered to parts of the Shimmer Wreath for even more holiday sparkle and shine!
The Perfect Bow Die was die cut from smooth white cardstock, assembled and adhered to the top of the bow as shown.
Finally I used the Shimmer Snowflake for this gray and white card. I love a good gray plaid and the simple simplicity of the inlay snowflake with the bold sentiments on top makes me so happy!
I die cut the Shimmer Snowflake from a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Simon Says Stamp Smoke Cardstock. I removed the intricate oval piece and stamped the "frame" with the Concord & 9th Plaid Background Stamp. I stamped the plaid design with Simon Says Stamp Smoke Ink and the stripes with Simon Says Stamp White Pigment Ink.
White Glitter Cardstock was placed behind the frame and the intricate Shimmer Snowflake was inlaid back into the frame design.
