Happy Monday and welcome to the October My Monthly Hero Blog Hop!
Today I'm sharing a couple of intricate inlay Christmas Cards with add ons from the October Release! I absolutely adore the brand new Crowned Swan Fancy Die and Floral Holiday Tree Fancy Die and with just a bit of work and a simple and embossed background, you can create an eye-catching inlay design that doesn't require much else because these dies are the "stars of the show"!

Watch the creation of these intricate inlay Christmas cards from start to finish below or click HERE to watch in HD:
The backgrounds for both cards were created the same, only on different colors of cardstock. Hero Arts Meadow and Cherry Cardstock were trimmed to 4" x 5 1/4" and stamped with the new Holiday Graphic Pattern Bold Print background using Embossing & Watermark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The backgrounds were adhered to white top fold card bases. The white "border" really sets off the white of the embossing.
The Crowned Swan Fancy Die was die cut from smooth white cardstock. To easily color the intricate details I recommend adding foam adhesive to the back of the design. Not only can you add dimension to your card but it serves as the adhesive for the inlay pieces!
The details of the swan were colored in with the following Copic Markers:
- crown: YR30, YR31
- flowers: R35, R37
- greenery: YG21, YG17
- eye: BV00
- cheek: R30, R35
- bill: YR00, YR04, C8
Details were added to the crown with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Honey Gold. The bill, flowers, and red dots were embellished with Crystal Lacquer. Eyelashes were added to the swan with a fine tip black pen.
The Floral Holiday Tree Fancy Die was die cut from smooth white cardstock. To easily color the intricate details I recommend adding foam adhesive to the back of the design. Not only can you add dimension to your card but it serves as the adhesive for the inlay pieces!
The details of the tree were colored in with the following Copic Markers:
- R35, R37, YR00, YR04, Y08, Y35, YG21, YG17, BG32, BG49, B34, B37
Some of the area of the tree were embellished with Crystal Lacquer.
Sentiments from the Christmas Folks Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock with black ink and die cut into strips with the Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Labels Dies. The greetings were adhered to the card with foam adhesive.
