Welcome to Day 4 of my Handmade Holiday 2021 Series!
I'm back with my eighth year of handmade holiday ideas!
Thank you so much for your support of this series. I appreciate each and every one of you and y'all make this possible. Much love to everyone.
The goal of this series is adding handmade touches to gifts for our friends and family. Even with the craziness of the season I like to be able to personalize the gifts under our tree. I'll be sharing ideas for cards, tags and gift wrapping sure to add that handmade touch we all love. Most ideas will include multiples (today I created 3 wood ornament tags)!
Each Handmade Holiday project blog post will feature a brand new, never before seen project(s) plus an incredible giveaway from.... me!

WOOD ORNAMENT TAGS
Products featured:
- Simon Says Stamp Winter Birds Stamp Set
- Simon Says Stamp Winter Flower Stamp Set
- Polychromos Colored Pencils
- More supplies linked in the supply list at the bottom of this post
Images from the Simon Says Stamp Winter Birds Stamp Set were stamped on Basswood and Birchwood wood ornaments (I purchased mine at Michaels) using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The images were colored in with the following Polychromos Colored Pencils:
Cardinal: Light Cadmium Red, Dark Red, Naples Yellow, Warm Gray VI, Cold Gray V
Snow: White, Sky Blue
Branch: Walnut Brown, Bistre
Pine Leaves: Earth Green, Chromium Green Opaque, White, Walnut Brown
Holly Leaves: May Green, Deep Cobalt Green
Berries: Walnut Brown, Permanent Carmine, Middle Cadmium Red
The ornaments were splattered with white gouache to mimic "snow". The eye was emphasized with a black gelly pen. The front of the tag was sprayed with a varnish (I used Krylon Varnish I picked up at Wal-Mart) or sealant like the Krylon Clear Coating to make the image permanent so it doesn't fade or smear.
Once completely dry I flipped the ornament over and stamped a greeting and additional images from the Simon Says Stamp Winter Birds Stamp Set and "to/from" from the Simon Says Stamp Winter Flower Stamp Set using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The back was also sealed with the Krylon Varnish.
The tags were finished with twine, ribbons, and bells!
